Hi - long time no comment! Thank you so much for this - really appreciate the idea/image of the constant back-and-forth game of catch - that it doesn't matter what the interaction is about, it's about the attunement. Any emotion, difficulty/what's really going on is OK.
Also about the trying to 'hack' attachment or relationship with God - I went through catechism this year and was confirmed on Sunday, and one of the things that the Holy Spirit has been teaching me is that I can let go of trying to hack and hang on and understand and implement everything. I really do have more of a sense that I can trust God to be consistent.
